Community Guidelines

Beamly is a safe place where everyone can get involved in the conversation about their favourite TV shows, share and discover TV-related content. These Community Guidelines are in place to ensure that everyone keeps this space a fun place to relax and talk TV!

We respect the ownership of the content that users share and each user is responsible for the content they post within Beamly. Therefore, we do not actively monitor and will not censor user content, except in the limited circumstances described below.

We may need to change these guidelines from time to time and reserve the right to do so. Please check back here to see the latest.

By using Beamly, you agree to:

1. Respect your fellow community members

When users share content on Beamly, we expect that they will share in a responsible manner. Please respect your fellow Beamly community members when you post, upload or otherwise make available any images, comments, videos or other content in Beamly, including other users, TV Room hosts and moderators, Beamly staff, television cast members and celebrities.

2. Keep your language appropriate

Do not post derogatory or discriminatory comments or other content. We do not permit users to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition and will not tolerate hate speech.

3. Not harass other users

Beamly does not tolerate bullying or harassment. Do not defame, abuse, harass, bully, antagonise, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others. We will take action on all reports of abusive behavior directed at private individuals.

4. Not post inappropriate or unlawful content

Do not publish, post, distribute or disseminate any defamatory, infringing, indecent, misleading or unlawful material or information. This includes abusive language and inappropriate photos. You may not use or post obscene or pornographic content in your profile photo or otherwise within Beamly. We will remove any pornographic content or any explicitly sexual content involving minors.

You may not use Beamly for any unlawful purposes or in furtherance of illegal activities. International users agree to comply with all local laws regarding online conduct and acceptable content.

5. Keep your personal details private and respect others’ privacy and identity

Do not post personal details, including address, phone number, email address or date of birth, or any other contact details, either in your profile, TV Rooms or private chat messages within Beamly.

Please do not publish the personal or confidential information of others without their express permission and authorisation.

Users connect on Beamly using their real names and identities. Claiming to be another person, creating a false profile for an organisation or creating multiple accounts undermines the Beamly community and violates our terms. You may not impersonate others through Beamly in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others.

6. Not be a spammer and not sell stuff

Do not spam other users with any kind of content. We ask that you respect our users by not contacting them for commercial purposes without their consent. Please also do not post any commercial offers within TV Rooms or otherwise use Beamly for commercial purposes or to sell, promote or advertise any goods, businesses or services.

7. Respect others’ intellectual property rights

Before sharing content on Beamly, please ensure you have the right or consent to do so. Beamly users are asked to respect copyrights, trademarks, and other legal rights.

We will respond to clear and complete notices of alleged copyright infringement. Our copyright procedures are set out in our Terms of Use.

8. Not be hackers

Do not upload or attach any files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another’s computer or the Beamly software and systems. We take our users’ safety and security seriously and will work to prevent any attempts to compromise their privacy or security, including those involving fraud or deception.

9. Not post spoilers

Please be considerate and, to the extent possible, do not post spoilers (or reveal the ending or key parts) of films or TV content. Be mindful that many people watch shows on-demand after the broadcast, and that in America and Australia time zones mean that other people may see the episode for the first time up to three hours after you.

10. Flag inappropriate comments or content

If you feel a user’s comment or content posted within Beamly is inappropriate, offensive or otherwise violates these guidelines you can ‘report’ their post, and the Beamly Team will investigate this promptly. Please note that reporting a post does not guarantee that it will be removed from Beamly.

To see how to report a comment, see: Reporting Inappropriate Content

11. Set your family friendly filter to your preference

As a default, all Beamly apps are set to ‘Family Friendly Mode’ which hides language deemed as inappropriate for minors. If you wish, this setting can be changed in your Beamly app settings.

To see how to change your Family Friend Mode setting, see: Family Friendly Filter

If a user violates these Community Guidelines

We hope it doesn’t come to this, but if a user is reported or found to violate our Community Guidelines anywhere on the site or in any TV Rooms, Beamly reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove any offending post without notification to the user, block or suspend any such user from a TV Room and/or block or suspend a user’s Beamly account without notification.
